Walking and cycling improvements in Guildford – what would you like to see?

Surrey County Council is developing a Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan (LCWIP) for Guildford to help determine where best to prioritise improvements. Pinpoint your suggestions on their interactive map here.

If you have suggestions for whole new routes, add them to plotaroute.com (its free to sign up). Name the route “G-LCWIP Suggestion A to B”, include your rationale and expected use in the route “About” box. G-BUG will collate the routes, send them to Surrey County Council and discuss the routes with them at our next meeting. Your suggestion could follow in the tracks of the Guildford to Godalming Greenway which was suggested and planned by cyclists and is now being implemented.

The first stage of the LCWIP is to identify borough routes and priorities using the suggestions on the interactive map and previous bicycle studies, and this is expected to start soon and take nine months to complete. The second stage is Feasibility and Funding of the selected routes and improvements, and this is expected to take place in summer 2024 to Spring 2025.

Epsom road very busy and traffic too fast. Plenty of space to squeeze in a share path or dedicated path. Needs 20mph limit also. Need Copenhagen crossings on the side roads, dropped kerbs and narrow entrances on Austen road and Sydney road. Additional crossing needed around upper and lower Edgeborough road
